School of Communication and Media and Montclair Film Festival Join Together to Screen Award-Winning Documentary at Film Forum

“Radio Unnameable” chronicles the career of legendary radio personality Bob Fass through audio and video archives

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Montclair State University School of Communication and Media’s Film Forum and the Montclair Film Festival are proud to host the screening of “Radio Unnameable,” the award-winning documentary that chronicles the career of legendary FM radio personality Bob Fass. The screening will take place on Tuesday, February 5 at 7:00pm at University Hall #1040 at Montclair State University and is free and open to the public. A brief Q & A with Bob Fass and the film’s directors – Paul Lovelace and Jessica Wolfson – will immediately follow the screening.

For nearly 50 years, legendary radio personality Bob Fass revolutionized late night FM radio with his free-form program ‘Radio Unnameable,’ a cultural hub for music, politics, and audience engagement. Long before today’s innovations in social media, Fass utilized the airwaves for mobilization, encouraging luminaries and ordinary listeners to talk openly and take the program in surprising directions. Drawing from Fass's extraordinary personal archive of audio recordings — including interviews with Allen Ginsberg and Abbie Hoffman, and performances by Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, and Carly Simon — “Radio Unnameable” celebrates the profoundly influential career of one of radio's unsung heroes.

Montclair Film Forum, sponsored by the film program at Montclair State University’s School of Communication and Media, is a weekly program featuring contemporary filmmakers speaking about their work and profession. Open to both University students and the general public, audience members are invited to ask questions and hear personalized inside-stories from some of the most innovative filmmakers working in the field today. The screening of “Radio Unnameable” comes on the heels of a presentation from award-winning filmmaker Lise Raven.

About The Montclair Film Festival

The Montclair Film Festival (MFF) is a non-profit, tax-exempt (501(c)(3)) community-based organization that produced its first multi-day, multi-venue Film Festival in May 2012. MFF exists to nurture and showcase the talented filmmakers from around the world while creating a cultural focal point for the Township of Montclair.

Formed in early 2010, MFF has produced three summers of outdoor films as well as several special sold-out screenings, all followed by a live “Q&A” with filmmakers and talent. MFF is also committed to providing educational opportunities for young filmmakers such as Kidz Shortz and “Behind the Screens,” a full day seminar for students on careers in filmmaking.

MFF is based in storefront headquarters at 494 Bloomfield Avenue, just two doors up from the Clairidge Theater, in the historic Hinck Building. For information about MFF, visit www.montclairfilmfest.org/.
